What comes after strikes on Houthis?

The Houthis have said they will respond after the U.S. and U.K. hit the Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen. The U.S. says the strikes were retaliation for continued Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea. CBS News senior White House correspondent Weijia Jiang has more on how the White House decided to act. U.S. strikes Iran-linked site in Syria

The U.S. has carried out a second strike in two weeks on Iran-linked facilities in retaliation for continuing attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement that the strike was conducted at the direction of President Biden, targeting a weapons storage facility in eastern Syria used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and affiliated groups. Blinken makes unannounced visit to West Bank

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken brought his frenetic Mideast diplomatic push on the Israel-Hamas war to the occupied West Bank on Sunday, meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in his latest bid to ease civilian suffering in the Gaza Strip and begin to sketch out a post-conflict scenario for the territory. CBS News intelligence and national security reporter Olivia Gazis has more on Blinken's trip to the Middle East to try to contain the war.

Houthis take responsibility for Israel attack

Houthi rebels in Yemen are claiming responsibility for multiple missile and drone attacks aimed at Israel after the Israel Defense Forces earlier this week said it intercepted a strike from Yemen. There are concerns the Houthis, who are backed by Iran, could draw the wider region into the battle between Israel and Hamas. Farea Al-Muslimi, a research fellow at Chatham House's Middle East and North Africa Programme, joined CBS News to discuss the group.
